Hello everyone,
In Web3Box design projects we’ve realized several nice logos during the last months! We decided to bring some of them in front of you with the mention that the selection is based on an internal challenge between our specialists in web design.
As we have an “endless internal battle” with the subject: “Which logo is the best?” we would like to ask for an outside expert opinion in order to clarify our friendly dispute.
The logo with the greatest number of comments, arguments or likes will designate the winner from our team. Afterwards we will bring him in front of you to explain few of the tricks he uses.

After finishing the work on the scroller I've presented last week (here), the client told us that he wanted more control over the animation. He said he needed left to right animations as well as right to left, pause effect and links that would work as a search on each image.

Hay there, One of the web development projects I'm working has given me the chance to build an "endless" image scroller in jQuery and share it with you. The challenge was to figure out how to make the images scroll in a continuous flow and the solution I came up with was to split the images in two containers and when one container went out of view reset it's position and restart the animation.
I hope this will help all you web designers out there in Ohio or any other place, who will want to develop such a animation effect.

Ajax is a very nice tool for web developers that helps you interact with the visitor without reloading the page. Searching the internet you will find various Ajax code samples that are simply to complicated and to specific. Today I will show you a simple Ajax script that can be very easily customized and adapted to your needs. Also, I will post comments that will better explain what the code does and how it can be tweaked.

Today I started working on a new logo design for one of our clients. The company rents and manages residential property and they also do maintenance, everything from small jobs to large projects. The name of the company is Radlett Properties and the client also specified that he needs something simple around the theme of a house roof and that he wants to emphasize "Radlett".
I promised I would design three completely different drafts and that we would work our way from there, so here's what I came up with:

Exactly one year has passed since I started working at Web3Box. This has been a terrific experience for me as the people I met here are true professionals that have inspired me to do better every day.
As a newbie everyone has taken great care of me and has found the time to guide me towards solutions when I was stuck.
Another thing I’m really excited for is the fact that Web3Box has seen a enormous growth in the last year and I like to think that I too had a merit in this development.
The best thing that has happened to us this year is the development of our Web-based CRM Software that we are sure will be a big hit in 2012 among the companies in Ohio that will become our clients. Many work years and lots of resources have been invested in developing this CRM and now that it is out there, on the market we are absolutely thrilled.
In the end I’d like to thank everyone here at Web3Box for being such a great family and for surpassing all my expectations.

We have finally designed the last mock-up of our new project I was talking to you about last week, in this article. The client requested that we had a brighter background and also he wanted to somehow emphasize the "Create Event" and "Promote Event" buttons so we tweaked the design a little bit. Have a look at the final result!

Hello,
I was thinking about our Ohio clients a few days ago, trying to find one word to describe them all and I found it! It's "PICKY" ! Why is that ? Well... because we teach them to be like that ! In order to have a satisfied customer we have imposed to ourselves not to advertise our ongoing work, but to criticize it. When we design a website draft we present many design versions to the customers and we teach them how to review our work. We also do not accept a positive review after the client has only given a quick glance to the design draft. We always advise them to take their time and analyze the design thoroughly until they are completely sure that they love the way their new website looks! You would probably think that this means more work for the design team but actually it's the other way around. Think about it, if the client says "Wow great design!" and you start cutting the PSD file and implement it and then you find yourself having to redo something ... wouldn't this take longer ?

One question that I've been asked so many times is: "Which is the best browser out there?". Personally I prefer Google Chrome because it's lightweight and I've become used to it, but this doesn't mean that it is the best. In my opinion it all comes down to personal taste and the features that one person uses.

Most Web Designers and Developers out there use plugins for slide-shows no matter the scripting framework they prefer. From my experience most slide-shows are static and almost never need administration or changes. So I thought it would be a good idea to show you how to develop a simple jQuery slideshow without using any plugins that will slow down your website for no reason.

We have recently started working on a new project here at Web3box. One of our customers in Boston wants a redesign for his events and tickets website - buzzingbean.com. The project is still in it's early design stages but the client is really excited about how the first draft came out. He clearly stated that he wants a modern new look so here's how the first draft came out. Tell us what you think!

Hello everyone,
Today I was thinking it would be a good idea to show you some jQuery stuff we've worked on in our web design projects. Recently I finished the design integration (the mock-up was delivered by the client) and development work on trip-joiner.com a website that gathers people who want to go on different adventures, all in one place. You submit an adventure, and people who want to join simply register for that adventure and everything goes from there. One thing that our client requested was a map based search/add feature. As using flash was not an option because of mobile devices limitations we decided to try out the jQuery/HTML 5 approach. It was hard work to build the map and make it work inside a modal window, as the clients requested, but in the end we managed to build a nice interactive map, that works perfectly in all browsers and all devices using HTML 5 and jQuery.
Check out this screenshot or visit the project website here.

Thank you, Daniel Gheorghe, web designer at Web3Box Ohio

Photoshop tutorial - Design a nice luxury cars header

One of our Ohio clients has requested that his personal web page should have a header with a few car brands that he loves: Ferrari F430 Spider, Nissan GTR, Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7th Series.
Of course I could have just pasted some cool images of these cars in the header but this would have been simply unprofessional so I decided to mix the images together and "park them all" in our clients website header. A quick search returned these four car images that I've stitched together as they where very large.

Most Photoshop users recommend using the Extract Tool (shortcut: alt+ctrl+X) for removing images backgrounds but in this case I used the Pen Tool as there are many straight lines in car and it just seemed a lot easier. For the nice, rounded corners I just added Anchor Points to the straight lines and made the corners round (Of course this needs a little playing around before you get the right result for it). Then, I created selections following the new made shapes and used them to bring the cars to a new layer (shortcut: ctrl+shift+J). After removing each background I ended up with four images that didn't even look like real cars as some had only 3 wheels.
So I put in a header background that had a nice horizon line and then arranged the cars facing a central point and played with the front-back arrangement. For the surface on which the cars sit I chose a fiber glass pattern which I tweaked a little and masked with a dark to light gradient. Now the problem was that flipping two of the cars to face the center forced me to erase the text on the licence plate of the Mercedes and replace it with left to right text - WEB3BOX. I used the healing tool for that to keep the original aspect of the background and then made the text blend in a little by bringing the opacity to 80%.
Here's how the final result looks like:

I hope you like today's design. Can't wait for your feedback.
Thank you, Daniel Gheorghe - Web Developer at Web3Box, Ohio

Hello again,
Before Christmas we launched web3box.com but it didn't have all the content, actually, it doesn't have it now either but we are still working hard on the final touches. And we promise that everything will be there in just a few more days. For now I'm going to tell you a few things about choosing the right domain name for your business. I wrote a few basic guidelines in this article. Don't forget that you can use our live support (assuming that we are online) by clicking on the live chat image located in the top right corner of the website.
I'll be back with more info on how to make all Ohio Websites great... Tomorrow!
Thank you!

Hello,
I decided that my first blog post on web3box.com will be about this website. The reason I'm doing this is because it was my first project here and it's redesign it's my last in 2011. We had a nice approach about a year ago. We decided to sell WEB3BOX CMS and CRM online together with it's many modules. Now we have a completely different idea: all efforts focused on Search Engine Optimization.
I'll be back with more details about the whole process! Until then I wish all of you Happy Holidays!
