Overview
World Culture Radio LLC envisioned a fresh, empowering space where independent artists can launch their careers by sharing and selling their music directly to listeners. They partnered with Web3Box to bring this vision to life through a mobile-first, artist-centered platform. The result: WOCURA — a new digital experience allowing artists to upload, price, and sell songs, while listeners can stream or purchase directly from the app.
The Challenge
The music distribution market is saturated with gatekeepers. New or niche artists often face barriers to getting their music heard, let alone monetized. WOCURA aimed to break that mold by offering a streamlined, creator-owned distribution experience. Key challenges included:
- Building a seamless multi-role platform (artists and listeners)
- Ensuring secure, scalable streaming of audio files
- Providing a reliable payment infrastructure with minimal fees
- Designing a clean artist dashboard with flexible song management
Our Approach
We tackled the project through structured phases, delivering a comprehensive solution that empowers artists while providing listeners with an intuitive experience:
- Discovery & Requirements Gathering: Engaged in in-depth client meetings to shape features, user flows, and monetization strategies
- Design & Wireframing: Delivered functional wireframes and UI mockups with branding alignment
- Backend Development: Built a robust Laravel API with secure endpoints and efficient file handling
- Admin Web Interface: Created a Vue.js-powered artist dashboard for managing songs, pricing, and profiles
- Mobile Application: Developed a cross-platform React Native app for purchasing and streaming
- Streaming Infrastructure: Leveraged Amazon S3 for secure, scalable media hosting
- Payment Integration: Integrated Stripe to support direct sales while minimizing platform fees
- Testing & Launch: Conducted comprehensive QA across devices and roles, successfully launching on TestFlight
